SB Legal Funding · Operating guide

Run the work.
Not the software.

Twenty is the go-forward source for every Funding. Start in Current Fundings, use the Pipeline for open work, and use tasks for anything that needs a future touch.

The operating loop

Three surfaces. One source of truth.

You do not need to use every Twenty feature. These are the surfaces that run the day.

01

Scan

Open Current Fundings. Its table and stage board show the same computed current set.

02

Act

Use Current Fundings by Stage to work the current cases. Use Funding Pipeline as the supporting open-work view for In Review and Contracts Out.

03

Commit

If follow-up happens later, create a task. If the outcome changed, move the stage now.

The rule: no new spreadsheet rows. If a Funding exists, it exists in Twenty. Current Fundings refreshes after relevant events are processed and at the New York day boundary; it may not change instantly.

Direct entry

Add a Funding.

Use the smallest useful record. Add detail as the case develops; do not wait for perfect information.

Your checks are saved in this browser.

Money fields

Four amounts, with distinct meanings.

Client Requested, Prior Lien Amount, and Total Requested appear together on the Funding record. Approved Amount keeps its existing placement.

Keep the distinction: requested means the new ask; prior lien means the existing lien; Total Requested is the derived sum; and Approved Amount is the separately recorded approved total.
Unknown stays unknown: preserve existing financial inputs. Do not guess a missing Client Requested amount or use Approved Amount as a substitute.
Automatic maintenance: Total Requested refreshes after relevant events are processed and receives a nightly check. It may update asynchronously; do not type over it.

Stage transitions

Update the record when the work changes.

Select a moment in the lifecycle. Each action shows only the fields that matter then.

In Review

Keep the next blocker visible.

  • Update Status Detail
  • Record Needed From Atty
  • Create a task for the next follow-up

Navigation

Quick fixes

When something feels unclear.

I cannot find a Funding.

Open Current Fundings, use Master List for the unfiltered book, or press Ctrl+K on Windows / Cmd+K on Mac and search the client name. Pipeline only shows In Review and Contracts Out.

I do not know the canonical firm.

Keep the original shorthand in Attorney Office Label. Do not invent a new firm. LeAP can reconcile it safely.

I need to remember a follow-up.

Create a dated task on the Funding record. Do not bury the commitment in Status Detail or Notes.

A record is missing from Pipeline.

Pipeline only shows open work. Check Current Fundings and verify the record's Stage, Source, and relevant dates.

The sidebar or views look stale.

Hard-refresh the browser. If the issue remains, send LeAP the view name and a screenshot. Do not assume a missing shortcut means a record is missing.

Should I put this in the spreadsheet too?

No. Twenty is the go-forward source. The imported sheet remains only as a reference.

How should I add a company or person?

For a company, begin with its name, address, phone, and domain. For a person, begin with the name, linked company, email, phone, and role. Search before creating a duplicate; after saving a person, verify the linked company is still correct.

You are ready when

A real Funding can move from intake to outcome without leaving Twenty.
